Teaching Double Dutch at Yucai is such a wonderful experience for me as well as the students. Double Dutch is an athletic game which requires turning two ropes alternatively. At least 3 people are required to play; two people turn the rope and one person is in the middle jumping. Double Dutch is quite popular in America especially amongst girls but Double Dutch has grown to be quite popular in other parts of the world. Anyone can partake in this fun game and at any age, as long as you can jump! The basic form; the simplest way to jump is similar to jogging in place. Just make sure you lift your knees up high enough. My first class consisted of the girls getting comfortable with turning the rope. Turning the rope is very important because if it is not turned correctly, the jumper will have a difficult time jumping in the rope. Turning the rope must be precise and on a 1-2 count. The girls will continue to practice as practice makes perfect. The girls also had the opportunity to jump in the rope! This however is quite difficult but with more practice, more knowledge and persistence, my class will be jumping Double Dutch in no time!
